Experience the Heart and Soul of Japan

Peace of Mind. Acceptance. Embracing that which does not last.
Understanding that Nothing is Everything. Zen Buddhism is a Way of Life.

Our project brings the heart and soul of Japanese culture to guests. Through stays at temples that are normally closed to the public, guests participate in the core of Zen Buddhism.

Zazen meditation, chanting of sutras, and the tea ceremony. Just as importantly, by staying at a Zen temple, guests will feel in their hearts and souls what it is like to accept and embrace the Zen way of life. A powerful, unique, and unforgettable experience.

The experience will take place at one of five temples, all subject to availability, only one group is allowed per temple: Daiji-in is a temple with a beautiful teahouse and amazing Karesansui (rock garden). Youmei-in is located near Tenryu-ji, a UNESCO world heritage site. Kaihou-ji is known for their hand-made monk food. Shinnyo-ji has a beautiful Japanese garden, and Koun-ji has an exquisite Japanese pond garden with the back drop of Higashiyama mountain.

Rediscover yourself through the special cultural experience of tradition in the temple with the monks. The unparalleled experience of Zen also gives one a better insight and understanding to Japanese values, cultures, and history.

In addition, by participating in this Japanese project, guests are helping, through their financial contributions, to preserve cultural properties and to ensure that the profound culture of Zen Buddhism is both preserved as well as passed on to future generations.
